Viewing angle: understand the meaning of this specification on an HDTV
Wednesday, August 25th, 2010The first high-definition LCD TVs had a big problem related to positioning. Depending on the angle of the viewer for the TV (looking at the sides or above), images were distorted in color, more like a film negative.
Therefore, it is quite common in the specifications you find the measure of angle, which indicates the maximum angle (vertical and horizontal) in which you are able to view the screen without loss that occurs in image quality.
Nowadays, with the evolution of the panels, that problem is no longer critical. But, pay attention to this tip: when installing your TV, try leaving the center of your screen at eye level, where focus is directed.

The case the justices were asked to review Wednesday concerns a federal appeals court?s February decision ordering a university student to pay the Recording Industry Association of America $27,750 ($750 a track) for file sharing 37 songs when she was a high school cheerleader. That decision reversed a Texas federal judge who had ordered defendant Whitney Harper to pay $7,400 ($200 per song). |

Normally, one is innocent until proven guilty. In cases such as this, the RIAA should have to prove that this girl willfully, with malice, intended to inflict harm upon the copyright holders. They also should have to prove that the files were actually shared and not just posted. If the damages went to the artists instead of the attournys, me guess is that she would probably be looking at a $500 dollar fine.

HD Over Coax from High Def Forum – Your High Definition Community & High Definition Resource – High Definition News & Informative Articles
Saturday, April 17th, 2010Hi All,
I'm new to the forum and have a question about the connection of a new 1080p HDTV that I will be buying soon. My content provider is Dish Network and I am using their VIP722 DVR with two TVs. The DVR is in my basement where all of my TV/Computer cabling terminates. My primary TV (non-HD) is located on the 1st floor and is currently connected using RCA cables. My HDTV will be located on the 2nd floor where I only have RG6 coax. The questions are 1) what kind of quality can I expect over coax to the DVR and 2) if coax is not likely to reliably carry an HD signal, what would be the best way to get a quality signal from the basement to the 2nd floor? Running new cable (HDMI or component) would require approx 75 - 100 ft and would not be all that easy, but could be done. I've read about HDMI-over-coax adapters such as the Pulse Link PL3305, but don't know anything about their performance, etc.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Dan
