I remember visiting my local Blockbuster video store to rent ?Jurassic Park.?? These days, that place has become Jurassic Park, recalling a lost world where primitive men and women slogged through snow and rain to rent movies on shiny plastic discs. |

Question: I just bought a 42-inch Panasonic Viera plasma HDTV that I use with a digital antenna. The store was fairly adamant about me getting a "one time calibration" for the sale price of $199 (reg $299). I have not heard of anyone doing this. Would you recommend it, or is it a scam? |

A device called the HID-C10 "Home Information Device" has been given the full FCC once-over and, while confidentiality clauses keep the juicy bits secret, we do know that it somehow connects to a TV and that it possesses 802.11b/g wireless. |

Sales of plasma HDTVs have been on the decline for some time now. Alplasma hdtvthough plasmas are generally cheaper than comparably-sized LCD models, their picture isn't as bright; as a result, their images often appear dark and washed out under the bright, fluorescent glare of the local big box store. However, plasmas are often favored by home theater buffs, who savor the display technology's fast refresh rates and often superior reproduction of black and dark tones. |
